Seahawks Injury Update: Brandon Mebane placed on IR

By on 11/14/2014 09:48:00 AM

The Seattle Seahawks announced this week that Brandon Mebane has been placed on the injured reserve list. Mebane suffered a significant hamstring strain in last Sunday's victory over the New York Giants. The injury was another blow to the vaunted Seattle defense that has been struggling some this season.  To complete the roster, Seattle signed Rashaun Allen, a tight end who has been on the practice squat most of the season.

The injury to Mebane will effectively end his season and leaves a hole at defensive tackle. Interestingly the signing of Allen increases number of tight-ends on Seattle's roster to five, however only Allen and recent free-agent signing Tony Moeaki are healthy.  Seattle fans have become accustom to frequent roster moves across the season as Head Coach Pete Carroll tries to position his players for upcoming match-ups on the NFL schedule.  The Seattle Seahawks face the Kansas City Chiefs this coming weekend.
