Vikings Injury Updates: Jerick McKinnon, Matt Asiata, Greg Jennings

By on 11/21/2014 01:15:00 PM

As the Minnesota Vikings prepare to welcome the Green Bay Packers to TCF Bank Stadium on Sunday, here's an update on some notable injuries ahead of Friday's official injury report.

Running back Jerick McKinnon (lower back) was limited in practice on Thursday, after sitting out on Wednesday. He looks likely to play on Sunday, and it's worth noting he dealt with this back issue last week and played last Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Running back Matt Asiata came out of last Sunday's game with a concussion, and after missing practice on Friday he looks likely to be inactive against the Packers. As a result, new acquisition Ben Tate may see significant action in his first game with the Vikings.

Wide receivers Greg Jennings (ribs) and Jarius Wright (hamstring) were also injured against the Bears. Wright was able to practice on Thursday, albeit on a limited basis, but Jennings was held out for a second straight day before returning on Friday.

Linebacker Anthony Barr (knee) was limited in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, while defensive end Everson Griffen (neck) and cornerback Xavier Rhodes (ankle) were upgraded to full participation on Thursday after being limited the previous day. Offensive tackle Mike Harris (ankle) was also limited during Thursday's practice.

Defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (knee) missed practice on Thursday and Friday, but Vikings' head coach Mike Zimmer expressed optimism he would be able to play Sunday earlier in the week. Also absent from Friday's practice was offensive tackle Matt Kalil (undisclosed), and until further clarity is given his status for Sunday's game can't be confirmed one way or the other.
