White Sox Injury Update: Chris Bassitt shut down in AFL with foot discomfort

By on 11/05/2014 11:30:00 AM

The Chicago White Sox struggled to a 73-89 record this past season in large part due to a pitching staff that was 27th in ERA. Looking to improve the pitching in 2015 might not require many off season moves, should Chris Bassitt make strides in the AFL and next spring. Bassitt looked sharp in six appearances with the White Sox. Although he has been shut down with foot discomfort, the injury doesn't appear to be serious.

Mark Gonzales, who covers the Cubs for the Chicago Tribune, tweeted the following on Bassitt.
Bassiitt could make a push for a spot in the White Sox rotation next season. The White Sox rotation currently consists of Matt Lindstrom, Ronald Belisario, Daniel Webb, Javy Guerra and Zach Putnam.

Bassitt appeared in six games for the White Sox this past season. He compiled a record of 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA in 29 2/3 innings. The 25-year old right hander was 3-1 with a 2.08 ERA in nine Minor League games this season. In 96 career Minor League games, Bassitt has a record of 22-10 with a 2.97 ERA and 303 strikeouts in 318 innings pitched.
