Chiefs Injury Update: Jamaal Charles has bruised knee

By on 12/02/2014 09:30:00 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs' loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday was a setback in their playoff hopes, but more importantly, running back Jamaal Charles injured his knee in the contest, perhaps explaining why he had just 14 touches.

According to Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star, Charles suffered a bruised knee against the Broncos which started to swell, although he did not miss time because of the injury. Charles was coming off of six straight games with at least 18 touches and 14 rushes before receiving just ten rushes and four catches on Sunday. Head coach Andy Reid believes that despite the injury, Charles will "be ok" and will play this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals have a tough run defense and have given up the sixth fewest rushing yards and second fewest rushing touchdowns of any NFL team this season, but Charles has shown that he is matchup-proof this year. Be sure to monitor his status throughout the week, but if he's healthy enough to suit up on Sunday, plug him into your fantasy lineup without hesitation.
