Cowboys Injury Update: Tony Romo not playing with broken ribs

By on 12/05/2014 12:25:00 PM

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has already been dealing with two transverse process fractures in his back, but after Thursday night's win over the Chicago Bears that he suggested he has been playing through a rib issue as well. Romo said he has been wearing extra protection for his ribs, fueling a report he has been playing with broken ribs for around two months, but Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas clarified things by reporting Romo does not actually have broken ribs.

Romo is expected to continue to suit up as he deals with his lingering injuries, despite clearly looking limited at times. With 10 days between games now, he has a chance to get closer to full strength ahead of a Week 15 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.

After playing three games in a 12-day span, including Thanksgiving Day against the Eagles, the Cowboys will get some extra rest. That should only help Romo shake off his past struggles in December, and be ready to lead the Cowboys to the playoffs.
