White underwent surgery in August to repair a pectoral muscle that he injured during off-season training. He was expected to miss five months (which would have made his return date in February). White is ahead of schedule but still has a way to go before he feels ready to play a game.
White signed a one-year contract with the Flyers during the summer after the Montreal Canadiens did not offer him a qualifying offer and he became a restricted free agent.
