Ward came out for Thursday morning's practice skate, but informed goalie coach David Marcoux that he was not able to play. Anton Khudobin took Ward's place in net on Thursday. Coach Peters said on Thursday that Sekera was "real close" to playing but added he was not at 100 percent and did not have "a lot of grip strength."
Ward has 433 saves with a save percentage of .912 while Sekera has eight points (eight assists) so far this season.
