Kings Injury Update: DeMarcus Cousins' viral infection will likely keep him out of Monday's game vs. the Jazz

The Sacramento Kings fell to the Orlando Magic last night by the score of 105-96. Darren Collison lead the Kings with 22 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the floor in the losing effort. The Kings continue to play without DeMarcus Cousins, who hasn't appeared in a game since November 26 due to a viral infection.

I reported on December 4 that Cousins, who has been sick with a viral infection, should be back in the lineup on Monday. It appears that will not be the case now.

Rotoworld Basketball noted Cousins' status.
Joseph Crevier of also added that the loss of Cousins has hurt the Kings, who are 1-4 in his absence. Ryan Hollins has played more minutes in Cousins' absence, but the Kings have not been able to match the production of Cousins from any combination of players off the bench.

With the Western Conference being extremely competitive, the Kings need Cousins back as soon as possible. At 10-10 on the season, the Kings are currently in fourth in the Pacific Division, seven and a half games behind the Warriors.

Cousins, in his fifth NBA season out of Kentucky, is averaging 23.5 points, 12.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game this season. In 306 career NBA games, all with the Kings, Cousins have averages of 18.1 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.
