Rockets Injury Update: Isaiah Canaan out of walking boot, still not practicing

By on 12/03/2014 06:30:00 AM

The Houston Rockets head into tonight's game against the Memphis Grizzlies coming off a 117-103 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday. James Harden lead the Rockets with 34 points and seven assists. The Rockets were without the services of guard Isaiah Canaan, who injured his ankle in Friday's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Jonathan Feigen of UltimateRockets reported that Canaan wasn't using crutches and has removed his walking boot.  Although he was much better on Monday, he did not practice and will be out of the lineup tonight.

Canaan is confident that he'll return before long, but wants to be completely healthy before returning.
“It’s feeling a lot better. We’ll see. I knew I’d be all right. We have some of the best trainers. You just have to come in here and do it and see how your body reacts. It’s been doing pretty good. I’m sure it will still be a few more days. I just want to get it to 100 percent to when I’m out there, I won’t be thinking about it too much."
Jason Terry, who started for Canaan and scored 18 points in 35 minutes against the Bucks, should get the starting nod until Canaan returns.

Canaan, a second-year point guard out of Murray State, is averaging 9.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in 22 minutes per game this season. He appeared in 22 games as a rookie with the Rockets last season and averaged 4.6 points in 11.5 minutes per game.
