Texans Injury Update: Jadeveon Clowney getting second opinion

By on 12/03/2014 05:15:00 PM

Houston Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney will visit Dr. James Andrews today to get a second opinion on his ailing knee, reports John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

Clowney is still feeling the effects of a meniscus tear he suffered back in Week 1. He was initially able to return from the injury Week 8, but sat out last Sunday against the Tennessee Titans after feeling a lot of pain and swelling in his right knee.

The first overall pick of the 2014 draft hasn't been on the field much in his rookie season due to the meniscus tear and an illness that sidelined him Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Overall, Clowney has seven tackles in four games.

Houston is currently 6-6, barley clinging to playoff hopes in a crowded AFC race. Clowney has the potential to boost a Texans defense that has allowed the sixth-most yards in the NFL despite only yielding a solid 20.6 points per game.
