Hunter took a massive hit from Houston Texans safety Danieal Manning last Sunday and was hospitalized with stomach pain after the game, which was later discovered to be the spleen injury. He was released Wednesday and is expected to fully recover without surgery in time for next season.
The second-year receiver from the University of Tennessee hasn't met his full potential, but has a lot of physical ability and figures prominently into the Titans' future if he can put it together. Hunter caught 28 passes for 498 yards and three touchdowns this season amidst numerous quarterback changes.
Tennessee sits at 2-10 and is eliminated from playoff contention for the sixth consecutive year. Kris Durham and Derek Hagan expect to see more targets for the rest of the season in Hunter's absence.
