Titans Injury Update: Zach Mettenberger likely out for season

By on 12/08/2014 06:00:00 PM

Tennessee Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger is probably done for the season after leaving Sunday's loss against the New York Giants in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury. He was blindsided by Giants rookie linebacker Devon Kennard on a blitz.

The Titans official Twitter account has Mettenberger's status as doubtful for the next game, as of Monday afternoon.

However, team sources have told ESPN that Mettenberger has a Grade III sprain in his right shoulder and will miss the final three games of the season. The team is hoping to have Mettenberger avoid surgery and want to shut him down to give his shoulder time to heal.

Mettenberger was playing on Sunday with a sprained throwing shoulder, suffered in the previous week's lost to the Houston Texans. The shoulder was re-injured in the sack from Kennard, and Mettenberger left the game. He was replaced by Jake Locker.

Mettenberger wasn't having a very good day before the injury. He finished with 14 of 24 passes completed, 125 yards and one interception. He nearly had a second interception that was called back for a penalty.
