Padres Injury Update: Tyson Ross start postponed

After feeling some pain after Saturday's start, Dennis Lin is reporting that San Diego Padres pitcher Tyson Ross will have his next start pushed back.

Yankees Injury Update: Masahiro Tanaka could pitch next weekend

New York Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka may get his chance to pitch again this season when the Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays in the upcoming four-game series from September 18-21. Tanaka pitched a Minor League instructional game on Monday, throwing five scoreless innings. His return depends on how he feels on Tuesday says's Bryan Hoch and Adam Berry.

Tigers Injury Update: Justin Verlander, Alex Avila

With the Detroit Tigers fighting for a division title and having only two weeks left, now is not the time for new injuries to occur. Yet, the Tigers must now keep an eye on pitcher Justin Verlander and catcher Alex Avila. Verlander has a recurring blister, and Avila has light-headedness. The good news is that they are both merely day-to-day.

Nationals Injury Update: Bryce Harper exits with light-headedness

Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was lifted for a pinch hitter, Nate Schierholtz, in the fourth inning of Monday night's game in Atlanta, according to James Wagner of the Washington Post. Schierholtz remained in the game to play left field.

Nationals Injury Update: Ryan Zimmerman to play simulated game Tuesday

It looks like Washington Nationals third/first baseman Ryan Zimmerman has a chance to get in game shape before the regular season ends. The veteran went threw a full workout Monday and will play three innings of a simulated game in Florida on Tuesday, reports Mark Zuckerman of Nats Insider.

Reds Injury Update: Dylan Axelrod may be done for season

After missing Saturday night's start, Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Dylan Axelrod's strained oblique looks to be serious enough to cause him to miss the rest of the season.  He exited his previous start after recording just one out before injury.  Rookie David Holmberg started in his place and looks to remain in his spot in the rotation until season's end.

Astros Injury Update: George Springer still trying to return this season

Were it not for injuries, the Houston Astros' star rookie outfielder George Springer would be in consideration for Rookie of the Year. Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle has reported that Springer has run the bases recently and is hopeful for a return.

Braves Injury Update: Evan Gattis still out Monday

As the Atlanta Braves' season continues to spiral out of control, their slugging catcher Evan Gattis is still on the sideline with strep throat.  He is not in the lineup today and Kevin McAlpin is reporting that he is going to see doctors again to discover why he is still feeling symptoms. 

Cubs Injury Update: Anthony Rizzo returns to lineup

The Chicago Cubs open up a three game series on Monday night against their division rivals, the Cincinnati Reds, at Wrigley Field. The Cubs are currently 66-84 and are last in the NL Central. The Cubs will take the field tonight with their slugging first baseman Anthony Rizzo for the first time since August 24th.

Padres Injury Update: Joaquin Benoit could return later this week

The San Diego Padres open a four-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies tonight coming off an 8-6 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Padres dropped to 68-80, third in the National League West. There is some good news on the injury front, as reliever Joaquin Benoit could return later this week, barring any setbacks.

Angels Injury Update: Josh Hamilton improving, still no timetable

The Los Angeles Angels lost to the Houston Astros on Sunday by the score of 6-1. Even with the loss, the Angels have the best record in baseball at 93-56. At first in runs scored and 11th in team ERA, the Angels should be coasting into the post season. The question is whether or not Josh Hamilton, who has been out with a shoulder injury, will be a part of the run. He is improving, but there is still no timetable for his return.

Indians Injury Update: Ryan Raburn could be done for season

The Cleveland Indians fell to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday by the score of 6-4. The loss dropped the Indians to 76-72 on the season, third in the American League Central. Having been swept by the Tigers, the Indians have fallen out of the divisional race and are five games back in the wild card race. On the injury front, Ryan Raburn could be done for the season with a knee injury.

Rockies Injury Update: Nolan Arenado exits with chest contusion

Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado did not make it through Sunday's loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, departing before the bottom of the fourth with what the team later described as a chest contusion:

Tigers Injury Update: Alex Avila exits with lightheadedness

Detroit Tigers catcher Alex Avila was pulled early from the win over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday after complaining of a headache, reports James Schmehl of Avila left in the seventh inning after someone told manager Brad Ausmus that the catcher did not seem right, as Ausmus himself told Schmehl:

Astros Injury Update: Brad Peacock scratched from start

Jason Martinez is reporting that Houston Astros starting pitcher Brad Peacock will miss his start today against the Cleveland Indians due to lower back tightness. Collin McHugh will start in his absence.

Tigers Injury Update: Anibal Sanchez targeting mound session Monday

There is hope in Detroit as Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez looks to return to the rotation at some point this season.  James Schmehl is reporting that Tigers manager Brad Ausmus is "cautiously optimistic" that he will soon be able to return.

White Sox Injury Update: Paul Konerko hits off a tee

The Derek Jeter retirement parade has been going on for months, but Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko is not set to begin his retirement yet.  Scott Merkin is reporting that he has hit off a tee and should be able to play in one of the team's next two series.

Mariners Injury Update: Dustin Ackley still out

The Seattle Mariners lost again to the Oakland A's on Sunday, to drop to 80-68 on the season. The Mariners got only seven hits and struck out 13 times against four A's pitchers. With 14 games remaining in the season, the Mariners are a game out in the wild card race. They played again without left fielder Dustin Ackley due to an ankle injury.

Rangers Injury Update: Michael Choice exits with strained hamstring

The Texas Rangers' injury plagued season continued Sunday as rookie outfielder Michael Choice exited with hamstring tightness.  He will have an MRI today to judge the severity of the injury.

Red Sox Injury Update: Brock Holt to see concussion specialist again

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Kansas City Royals on Sunday by the score of 8-4. The win improved the Red Sox to 66-84, last place in the American League East. The Red Sox played without Brock Holt for the eighth straight game due to a concussion. Holt is set to see a concussion specialist again this week.
