Athletics Injury Update: Josh Reddick activated


The Oakland A's entered Tuesday night's game against the Houston Astros with a record of 61-37, first in the American League East. The A's have been a powerhouse both offensively and on the mound all season, ranked second in runs scored and third in ERA. The offense should get even better, with the return of veteran outfielder Josh Reddick, who has been out with an injured right knee.

Padres Injury Report: Everth Cabrera rehab result


The San Diego Padres got shut out by the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday by the score of 6-0. The loss dropped the Padres to 43-56 on the season, third in the National League West. Although fourth in the Major Leagues in ERA, the Padres are a dismal 30th in runs scored. On the injury front, Everth Cabrera had a successful first rehab game on Tuesday.

Astros Injury Update: Collin McHugh rehab result


The Houston Astros entered Tuesday night's game against the Oakland A's with a record of 41-58, fourth in the American League West. Although 25th in the league in runs scored and 28th in ERA, the Astros have improved over a season ago, in which they won only 51 games. There was some good news on the injury front, as pitcher Collin McHugh pitched well in a rehab start at Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Rangers Injury Update: Alex Rios expected to return by Thursday


The Texas Rangers lost to the New York Yankees on Tuesday by the score of 2-1, in 14 innings. The loss dropped the Rangers to 40-60, last in the American League West. The Rangers, who are 29th in the league in ERA, allowed only two runs, but the offense left eight men on base. On the injury front, Alex Rios is expected to return Thursday from a right ankle injury he suffered on Saturday.

Nationals Injury Update: Ryan Zimmerman exits with strained hamstring


Nationals manager Matt Williams announced after Tuesday night's 7-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies that third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, who pulled up in the sixth inning while running out an RBI grounder (video below), has a strained right hamstring and will undergo an MRI Wednesday morning. Williams described the injury as "concerning," and compared it to a similar injury sustained by catcher Wilson Ramos which required a DL stint. With the win, the Nats are 55-43 and two games ahead of the Atlanta Braves in the NL East.

Yankees Injury Update: Mark Teixeira, Masahiro Tanaka


New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira could return to the lineup as early as Thursday, maybe Friday, according to the Yankees Injury Report. In fact, general manager Brian Cashman has stated that he has a "low-level" concern for Texieira's lat strain, indicating that Teixeira is nearly ready. The news is not as good, though, for rookie pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, who has not yet received clearance to begin throwing in attempt to return from an elbow injury.

Giants Injury Update: Joe Panik exits


Joe Panik of the Giants left Tuesday’s game against the Phillies due to a right sprained ankle, according to Andrew Baggarly of CSN Bay Area. He rolled it on first base when Roberto Hernandez didn’t give him any room to step on the base. Ehire Adrianza replaced Panik at second.

Rockies Injury Update: Troy Tulowitzki to DL


Colorado Rockies MVP candidate Troy Tulowitzki placed on 15-day disabled list with hip strain. He left the game holding his hip after running out a ground ball a few days back as reported by Mike Axisa from CBSSports.com. Yohan Flande will start in his place on Tuesday.

Phillies Injury Update: John Mayberry Jr. placed on DL


The Philadelphia Phillies entered tonight's game against the San Francisco Giants entrenched in last place in the National League East with a record of 43-56. The Phillies, who are 26th in the Major Leagues in runs scored, banged out 14 hits, but left 11 men on base. One player which may provide a spark to the offense is power-hitting right hander Darin Ruf, who has been called up to replace the injured John Mayberry Jr, who has been placed on the disabled list.

Rays Injury Update: Joel Peralta placed on DL


The Tampa Bay Rays enter the first game of an interleague series against the St. Louis Cardinals with a record of 47-53, last in the American League East. The Rays have played better of late, having won 16 of their last 21 games. Much of the improvement can be attributed to the pitching staff, which has a respectable ERA of 3.76. The Rays will be without one piece of their staff, Joel Peralta, who was placed on the disabled due to a virus.

Cubs Injury Update: Emilio Bonifacio activated, Darwin Barney DFA


The Chicago Cubs have activated second baseman/center fielder Emilio Bonifacio from the disabled list and, to make room for him, designated second baseman Darwin Barney for assignment. Barney's DFA answers the question of what the Cubs will do with Arismendy Alcantara when Bonifacio returns.

Mariners Injury Update: First-rounder Alex Jackson hit in face by line drive


Seattle Mariners catcher/outfielder Alex Jackson underwent X-rays on Monday after being struck in the face by a line drive, reports Jake Seiner of MiLB.com:

Rangers Injury Update: Geovany Soto, Jake Smolinski, Jim Adduci


The Texas Rangers won Monday night against the New York Yankees, however they lost a little bit as well. According to T.R. Sullivan from MLB.com the Rangers lost Geovany Soto and Jake Smolinski. Both players are hoping their injuries are not serious. Also, Jim Adduci was activated from the disabled list on Monday.

Rays Injury Update: Tim Beckham starts rehab following ACL surgery


Tampa Bay Rays infielder Tim Beckham has begun a rehab assignment in the Gulf Coast League in an attempt to return from a torn ACL, reports Dennis Maffezzoli of the Sarasota Harold-Tribune:

Cubs Injury Update: Kyuji Fujikawa moves rehab to Triple A


Last season, on May 29, 2013, it was reported by Will Carroll from Bleacher Report that Chicago Cubs reliever Kyuji Fujikawa was a victim of the dreaded Tommy John surgery. He was out for the 2013 season. On April 14, 2014 he made his first start since the surgery in an extended spring training game.  He called the trainer to the mound before leaving the game with an apparent injury. He hit the 60-day disabled list on May 3, 2014. On Monday, he had his rehab assignment transferred from Class-A Kane County to Triple-A Iowa.

Mets Injury Update: Chris Young exits with leg cramp


Left fielder Chris Young experienced cramping in his left leg in the eighth inning of the Mets 5-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners, according to Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com. Young did not return for the ninth inning and is labeled "day to day." His line is .202/.288/.352 (OPS+ 82) with eight homers and 27 RBI in 75 games.

Indians Injury Update: Jason Kipnis still bothered by oblique


The Cleveland Indians lost to the Minnesota Twins on Monday by the score of 4-3. The loss, which dropped the Twins to 50-49, was their second straight following three consecutive wins over the Detroit Tigers. The Indians had eight hits, but left eight men on base in the loss. Jason Kipnis, who heated up against the Tigers going 5-for-15, was just 1-for-5. Although named American League Player of the Week on Monday, he's still bothered by his right oblique which sidelined him at the end of April.

Angels Injury Update: C.J. Wilson feels good after bullpen


The Los Angeles Angels lost to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday by the score of 4-2. The loss dropped the Angels to 59-39, second in the American League West. Although leading the league in runs scored, the Angels are in the middle of the pack in ERA at 3.78. One pitcher who hopes to help later this second half is left hander C.J. Wilson, who has been out with an ankle injury.

Diamondbacks Injury Update: Cody Ross out again Monday


The Arizona Diamondbacks lost to the Detroit Tigers on Monday by the score of 4-3. Aaron Hill went 2-for-4 for the Diamondbacks in a losing effort. The loss dropped the Diamondbacks to 43-57, fourth in the National League West. The Diamondbacks played without Cody Ross in the starting lineup, due to a calf injury.

Dodgers Injury Update: Hanley Ramirez, Yasiel Puig, Josh Beckett


Three key players on the Los Angeles Dodgers squad are dealing with injury: Josh Beckett, Yasiel Puig and Hanley Ramirez. The results of the follow up X-rays on Ramirez and Puig were negative and they are both still "sore." Beckett is expected to make his return from the disabled list and start on the road against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday as reported by Timothy Downs from RantSports.com. This is great news for the Dodgers because they are tied for first in the National League West and are looking to claim first over the San Francisco Giants.
